Iwakura (磐座) comes from Uji near Kyoto — the region that has set the standard for Japanese matcha since the 12th century. First harvest, blended from the Yabukita, Samidori, Gokou and Saemidori cultivars. Well balanced with clean depth: no single note pushes forward, and the finish stays smooth rather than scratchy. The powder is exceptionally finely ground and leaves almost no sediment in the bowl. Recommended for usucha and matcha lattes.

Origin
Uji, where the standard was set
Uji, south of Kyoto, is Japan's oldest major matcha region; shading the tea before harvest was developed here and adopted elsewhere from there. The river valleys bring mist and cool nights, which slow the leaf down and leave it with more amino acids. Iwakura combines four cultivars: Yabukita for body, Samidori and Saemidori for sweetness and colour, Gokou for depth.
